Local landmark
Lutz does things its own way. Every Fourth of July, the community throws its Independence Day parade and names an honorary "Guv'na." In 2013 the parade celebrated Lutz's 100th birthday. The town grew up around a depot on the Tampa Northern Railroad and was named for W. P. Lutz, credited with bringing the railroad through.
